Praise God for His Compassion
Good Morning from a Regular Joe;
News on the television is troubling, what I read on the internet shows an even darker road ahead. These days’ events are moving so rapidly that spending a week working in the field leaves a stack of unread stories that I don’t have time to catch up on because of all the breaking news.
In times like this it is easy to become depressed or to want to ignore what is going on. But that is not a responsible direction to take. I came across some verses written by David in the book of Psalms that motivate me.
Psalm 103
1. Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits—3. who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4. who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5. who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles.
We need to keep our focus on the Lord. He forgives our sins and heals our diseases. HE HAS SAVED US FROM HELL. He crowns us, (REWARDS US) With Love and Compassion. He knows our desires and wants to do good things for us.
6. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. 7. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: 8. The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10. he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; 14. for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
Do you feel oppressed? The LORD will bring righteousness and justice for you. Just as He made Himself known to Moses and the Jews; He will make Himself known to you. Sometimes I want God to be more immediate in His judgment of people who do me wrong or people I see in the news. But then I think about myself and things that I have done; THEN I am glad that God is compassionate, gracious and slow to anger. Truly I seek to bring my sins before Him and ask for forgiveness because He has promise to remove them as the East from the West. As our Creator and Heavenly Father He knows us intimately for he is the one who formed us.
Praise God for His mercy and comfort in our lives and have a great day in the Lord!
Regular Joe
