Zombie Apocalypse
The January 2ndblog, Preparedness Lessons from Y2K, ended with “To sum up; make sure you are not wasting a lot of time planning on a single event whether it is 2012 Doomsday or the Zombie Apocalypse, (there is another whole blog). Well today is the day. I actually write a lot of my blogs the evening before and post them after midnight. Well today I spent most of the day on a plumbing repair job and really haven’t had much time to think about what to write, not to mention that I didn’t get home until 7pm and I am falling asleep. Ardee probably thinks I look like a Zombie tonight but she’s too polite to tell me.
You don’t have to do much surfing on the web, particularly in the area of survival or preparedness without running into Zombie sites, zombie clothes, shooting targets in 2 and 3 D, if you can imagine it, it’s out there.
For any of the ‘undead’ that are in the dark here is what Wikipedia has to say about Zombies:
Zombie (fictional)
This article is about the figure from films such as “Night of the Living Dead”. For the figure from Haitian religion, see Zombie. For the philosophical concept, see Philosophical zombie. For other uses, see Zombie (disambiguation).
Zombies from George A. Romero‘s Night of the Living Dead
Zombies are fictional undead creatures regularly encountered in horror and fantasy themed works. They are typically depicted as mindless, reanimated corpses with a hunger for human flesh, and in some cases, human brains in particular. Although they share their name and some superficial similarities with the zombie from Haitian Vodun, their links to such folklore are unclear[1] and many consider George A. Romero‘s seminal film The Night of the Living Dead to be the progenitor of these creatures.[2] By 2011 the influence of zombies in popular consciousness had reached far enough that government agencies were using them to garner greater attention in public service messages.[3]
Some of the sites look to me like the people are beginning to believe the possibility is real. On one I looked at recently the author listed the CDC, (Center for Disease Control) l as proof that the danger of a Zombie Apocalypse was real. You can find that info at this link and decide for yourself. http://www.cdc.gov/phpr/zombies.htm.
So your reading this and saying to yourself; ‘Hey Regular Joe, what the heck kind of Bible devotional is this? Well I’m getting to that part now.
There are the living dead all around us right now but we don’t always recognize them as easily as if they looked like Zombies. In Mark 16:15-16, Jesus tells the disciples , “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Where are these people condemned to? They are condemned to Hell for eternity. So while they may look as healthy as you or I, they have the same fatal flaw that we had before we accepted Jesus Christ as our personal Savior. Are we better than them, No, of course not, for it is “by faith not works lest any man should boast”, that we are saved. Do we look on these “walking Zombies” with disgust when we see them living in sin? – or — do we have compassion on them and reach out to them and give them the story of our “blessed hope”. Jesus Christ, who has commissioned each of us to go and make disciples of all men.
Titus 2: 11-15
11 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. 15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
This is the “cure” to the “Zombie hords” that are stumbling all around us every day. I encourage you today to go out today and do battle! The cure is not the arsenal shown in the Zombie movies but with the love of Christ. Remember we wrestle not against flesh and blood but municipalities and powers of darkness, (Satan and his demons).
Mark 16: 15-16 NIV
15 He (Jesus) said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Safe travels you Zombie hunters!
Regular Joe
